Good beginners books

Discussion in 'General Instruction [BG]' started by Ryan Donahue, Jan 24, 2003.

  1. I was just wondering if some of you guys could tell me some good books I should get to start teaching myself bass. I know this has been talked about before but I am coming from a guitar background so I don't need the books that are concerned with learning the fretboard and stuff.
I really want to get into jazz and some theory. I also know a lot of box pattern scales, is there a good book out there that starts to connect all the dots if ya know what I mean?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I highly reccomend The Jazz Theory Book, by Mark Levine. It is listed in the FAQ along with some other useful info on books.
