I got a Deluxe Active Jazz Bass(MIM) and a SansAmp Bass Driver pedal used for $280. Anyone else play one of these basses. I think tonewise, that it's pretty close to the American Deluxe.I think the SABDDI speaks for itself.

I have the 5 string version, and although the B is a little whimpy, the sound overall is good. Congrats!

By the way, I got a hardshell case with that also.

  6. I have one too - and like it pretty well. I don't like the bridge and tuners as well as some I've seen but the MIM Deluze has tone for days.

I've got one of the MIM Active Deluxe V basses. (black with tortoiseshell). I'm very happy with it. It's the second bass I've owned, and though I'd like to upgrade down the road, I really like the variety of tones I can dial in. As far as the B string goes, I've found that staying away from the Fender strings has worked best for me. They seem to be thicker at the B tuning post than other strings I've tried (maybe they're really meant for the through-the-body basses). It seems to me that using other brands that wrap tighter at the peg makes a difference. I could be wrong though.
