good distortion pedal

    Try as many as you can with your bass and amp and go from there. You will know what sounds good to you. Also, there is an overwhelming amount of info about this under the search button.

    the answer is, possibly. But usually the problem is that guitar pedals are centred on guitar (not bass) frequency ranges and so there can be loss of low end when on.
    Again, some pedals do and some don't. Try and see, you can't damage it.
