Good head for a 4x10

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by ChaosGwar, Aug 11, 2002.

  1. I'm hoping to get a 4x10 shortly, 450 watts at 4ohms.

What would be a good head head the cab?
Let's say somewhere in the $500 neighborhood.

    Thanks.

I cant suggest how many times better a preamp/poweramp situation would be better than a head, despite I know you've already made up your mind on it.

I got a $570 Carvin DCM2000 and it has a**loads of power, but a 1000 watt can go for 400 or so.

Head-wise, the Hartkes are nice but not in a rock band situation. I find them accentuated in the lows and highs, perfect for slap and jazz where not much volume is needed.
