I did read that famous Luthiers Rob Elrick, Ken Lawrence, Scott Ambush and Ken Smith are also good bass players...

Mike Lull is a solid bass player and he makes wonderful instruments.

Carl Thompson claims to be a pretty good bassist, although I've never heard him.

Think Matt Pulcinella (sp?) is also a bass player.

Ken Lawrence is indeed a very good bass player and a great guy to boot. I picked up a lot of stuff watching him play, back in Eureka, California. He used to build some pretty freaky stuff back then, just for fun; doublenecks, etc.

I heard some of the stuff from Matt Schmill (of FBB) and he's good.

  7. I subbed for Rob Elrick for the band he was paying with in Chicago a few times, before the band offered me the job (which I did not accept).

    He's pretty good.
