Good pup for neck on a P/J

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by landry.bass, Jun 29, 2008.

  1. Ok, so I've got a MIM Deluxe P- Special that I really like, but I want to add another pup. Right now it has two Seymour Duncan pups in it, and it sounds really aggressive. It gets great mids and highs, but I'm missing the lows I want. So I'm gonna get another pup installed above the P (I know this involves lots of work), but I want something bassy, you know, really warm like. I would rather a Jazz pup, but am not opposed to anyhting really, even a soapbar or another p-style. Oh yeah, and must be passive. Any suggestions?

Before you prepare the body for routing, find a good, loud harmonic spot somewhere below the neck - that would be an ideal position for that Villex J.
