hi, i'm interested in adding a second cabinet to my rig for playing live, competing w/ a guitarist running a 200 watt marshall into two 4x12's and a drummer w/ his own pa.

i'm currently using an swr sm500 bridged into an swr big bertha 2x15 cabinet. i want to add volume, and may be changing heads to something around 1000 watts. i've considered either a single swr 1x18, or a 6x10, or a 4x10....i'm not sure.

i play heavy rock/alt rock mostly, slap occasionally but its fingerstyle for the most part. any ideas would be appreciated.

  2. get a 6x10, it will add lots of clarity, volume, and still have lots of low end if you want that much.

Does the drummer just use the P.A. for himself?

I agree the 6x10 will compliment the 2x15 nicely. Make sure you've got enough cash left over for a set of decent earplugs.
