I have recently got into downtuning, and things like that, are there a really good set of strings (5 heavy) that you reccomend? Elixir, DM?... _-soto-_

So you're wanting to tune your B down to G?

La Bella makes the "Deep Talkin' Bass" as big as .140, which might do it. Ken Smith makes Burners as big as .145, which is pretty big. The B on my La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels is .128 and it works well, so something in the .135-.145 range might be what you want. You may have to custom-make your set out of singles to get these gauges, though - I haven't seen them in sets.

You might want to try some strings that are stiffer than average. The DR Lowriders have a hex core (as do some other strings) which makes them stiffer than strings wound on a round core.
