Hi I have been looking into getting a valve head (stand alone or rack) and getting an ampeg svt series 410 cab to compliment my mag 410 cab. My question is, what good value valve heads are there without spending a ridiculous amount. I am currently running a mag 300 head and probably want a little more power. Or is this a bit of a "You need to pay for a good valve head". And is it, "SVT cabs and heads go hand in hand"? Many thanks
peavey vb-2 $400 on sale at Guitar Center 225 watts of tubey goodness Im picking up a Peavey 215 for it saturday. I spoke to forum member and peavey designer and apparently the VB2 was designed around the Peavey Pro 410 So for any of you that are asking which cab sounds best with the VB2, at least the Peavey Pro 410 will get you the same results that the peavey engineers wanted when testing the amp. I like 15s though
Guitar Center recommendations don't really help someone who is 3 or 4 thousand miles away from the nearest one! OP, tube or valve heads of reasonable power and inexpensive are mutually exclusive. There should be a fair amount of older valve amps available in the UK. Mind you I think that a lot of collectors from North America and Japan have probably gleaned all the good stuff by now. You just have to keep looking. Paul
For sure!! Had my credit card out ready to rock if they were indeed $400!! But alas, a quick trip to Guitarcenter.com and that dream was bust!!! Wonder if the dude that posted has any info we dont have?
The blowout was at the end of December last year and went until they were all sold. BassJunkie and I were among those that struck while the iron was hot. They can be had for around $600 used and appear on the TB classifieds from time to time. Awesome head. I read they're pricier in the U.K./EU
