I added this to emil's years ago: it's the "fugue" section (which i assume is the part people are trying to figure out?). playing it back in my head, this looks like it's missing a couple of details but should be easy to figure out where. lmk if you need specific help!

The EMG rig is much brighter and quite a bit louder than the Bartolinis. One thing I don't like is the volume pot is basically on/off where the Bart had a full linear roll off.

Oh man. I’ve got the Bart’s in my Q5 right now, but the original EMG pre and pups from the previous owner. I want to make the swap at some point, but the volume thing kinda scares me...

I emailed them and they said it’s common with active pups. They do as much as they can to mitigate it but it won’t be a full taper like a passive pickup

The Barts are more polite and definitely “safer”. The EMG rig is extremely honest and accurate in comparison

I’ve always considered the Barts more “dignified” and “Simpsonish” while the EMGs were more “gambling” and “saucy.” Really the only way to get the essence of either one would be to split them open and melt, but I suppose it could be done with wicker and cork just as easily.

How are you going to do anything without coconuts and chloroform? AFAF

I might not be understanding the issue, but that sounds like more like an installation issue with the EMGs or a bad volume pot rather than the system itself as a whole. I don’t think it’s indicative of EMGs as a whole. I’ve used passive basses with EMG pickups and my G. Gould has EMGs with an active preamp, and they are totally money with a volume taper through the entire turn of the knob.
