Gorgeous Acoustic Bass

    Saw this at Loveland Luthier. It was made by a local and is only on display at the store. Just thought others might appreciate seeing it.

    Craftsmanship aside... looks like a big wooden banjo.
    Can't see it being comfortable to play, especially sitting; and to my eye, the F holes just don't work.

    No thanks.

    Turned?

    I still have the one I abandoned to build about 25 years ago somewhere.

    I fashioned an add-on piece for the neck though, wavy horns and all, since the round shape didn't appeal to me as much when turned and dry fitted with a neck as it did on the sketch.

    On a hindsight, I should've just used the bowl to make an actual bass banjo, but I had already cut sound-holes when that idea materialized.

    Thanks for sharing though, always nice to see different approaches.
