I'm trying to decide between 2 types of bass for gospel/hymns in a praise band at church and maybe some acoustic/bluegrass coffee house type gigs
(john denver & dirtband & lightfoot stuff)

What I want is that deep woody traditional DB sound.
Will any of these get me close or closer than my jazz?
    Carvin AC40
ABG: martin BC15E or Tacoma CB28C thunderchief

All would be amped and playing along with 2 acoustics and keyboard on some stuff. I had a dean ABG for a few days and I wasn't pleased with the tone I got from it. I'm leaning toward the Carvin but I've never heard one to judge if this is the sound I'm looking for, as for the other 2 if I'm going with an ABG I want something higher quality.
  2. I'd look long and hard at the Tacoma if I were you.

    A DB.

    Or a Tacoma.

I've heard too many good things about the Tacoma; waiting to try one...
