Well i have a 25 watt bass combo amp, and i'm looking for a new amp, and i had the idea of buying a cabinet amp and connecting it with my 25 watt combo...would this work? would i still need to buy a head for the cab?

Even if your 25w combo has an out for an extra speaker on the back, 25 watts isn't enough to get the job done. If'n you're looking for a new cab, then you should also be looking for a new head at the same time...if you're looking to play nice with others, think about getting something in the 200+ watts range, and keep the 25 watter in the bedroom.
