I've been filling in at church on bass for years, but this year I've become a bit more serious about it and bought my first bass several months ago (sort of faux SR5 HH thing from Rondo). You can get away for quite some time without owning bass gear, because all Pentecostal churches have a cheap Ibanez bass stashed somewhere and a DI box. I think it's in the bylaws or something. I was using the main bassists amp (Ampeg B115T. Nothing stellar, but gets the job done) until now. Anyway, there is a gal at work I've become pretty good friends with, and her husband is a manager at GC. He's willing to sell me stuff at cost. Suddenly, I have no reason not to get an amp. I almost got the Rumble 200 because it sounds just a little smoother and more articulate with the 15" driver and a compression tweeter, but I ultimately went with the 100 because of the weight. It's got a class D power amp and those Neodym drivers, so it's only 22lbs! love that! Course, the 200 is only 34lbs, but I have some sort of maniacal fascination with light-weight gear, and in my situation, the house sound is through the amp's DI, and they have a 5000W PA with like 4 subs under the stage and four full-spectrum cabs mounted on the ceiling, so they will give me all the power and articulation I need. Bottom line: I got $90 off the GC price, bringing a $300 amp to $210. Also got the $20 footswitch (OD channel) for $11. Amp sounds good! It has these buttons for changing the voicing which are pretty awesome, especially that "vintage" button.
