Apparently you can't make a left turn or a u-turn in front of a fire house.

I was pulling out of a tire shop where i was looking for a job, heading east. I needed to head west.

I look over at the left turn lane, and see the CHP waiting to u-turn, so I pull in behind him.

He turns, and parks his bike. Lots of fools speed through there, so I figure he is gonna do some radar gun shennanigans.

I finally get to turn, and he waves me over.

    Illegal u-turn.

I'm going to fight it... I mean, i saw him in the turn lane. He u-turned where you apparently are not supposed to.

And yes, there is a beat to hell sign saying no turn.

    Bleh.

First violation ever. I should be able to get it reduced significantly if i challenge it.

Even without a lawyer, just by virtue of dressing up in a suit and it being your first violation, you will probably get a no points ticket (albeit with a larger fine).

If there's a sign, you're going to have a hard time beating anything, but you might get a lesser violation. Your best bet (IMO) is to pay the fine, go to traffic school, and keep it off your record.

You know what I'd recommend. You know it'd send you to prison for the rest of your life. You know that it'd still be worth it.

Alternatively, they might throw the book at you since you make an illegal turn and then decided to waste time fighting it. What is your defense? "But, Your Honor, the officer did it, too!" Good luck with that.

You know what they'd do to you. You know they'd find your loved ones. You know that it's not nearly as worth doing as what I know you know that I know.

You knew that he'd do it. You knew the mental anguish it would cause. You know how to make him pay.

Go to court, pay the fine. You feel stupid, but those laws are there for a reason.

I've got to admit, it does chap my butt that the cop made the turn first. In most states the law is written that officers can disregard traffic laws only when actively involved in specific activities. It won't matter in court, but it's another special treatment for special people thing.
