I finally got my Custom Flea Bass. The sound is incredible, but the finish is far from flawless. I guess that the Big silver is hard to do, and even harder to make perfect, but its the sound that matters. In the end there just more toys for me to playwith.
CONgrats man...fellow pittsburgian? hehe well good pick...If the finish is that bad have some1 refinish it or something but hey! like u said the sound is what matters
Yeah, im a Pittsburghian. Love my bass, im gonna see what Modulus will do for me, It is right out of the box. I didn't know there were so many bassists around here. Party On! Payne
what customizations did you have done? i have one, and I love it to death. Plays and sounds better than alot of basses ive played that cost twice as much.
The biggest custom was the paint. Silver Big Flake. I also got the unusual, combo of the Basslines p up and Bartolini 3 band electronics. It has a satin finish neck also. I will post pics when my camera gets out of the shop.
My bass sounds like flea. I sound like someone whose band covers chili peppers songs. But i can slap like a crazy mofo.
Well The flea is going back. For repairs that is. After consulting a few other people i decided that I would be best off letting modulus fix the finish, and the grounding buzz. I should only lose it for a couple of weeks, and then it should be perfect.
thank god for warrenties. sounds like an awesome bass! ive played a few of those. great basses. should be even better when it gets back. i cant wait for the pics...
I would definitely say that the Flea 5 I had was way too bright, there were no subs at all!!! It had alot of low mids, I hated it personally, but I love Quantum's.
Wel it s been gona for a month, but i got a call from modulus today telling me it was on its way back, and would be here in a week. They assured me it would be good as new. Ill let you know, and post pictures when it returns
Sounds like you just got some options on it, not a custom Flea bass. Congratulations, however! Strange that a Modulus would have finish problems...I've never ONCE seen one with a sub-perfect finish. Sounds like a cool bass, though! Post some pictures!
If you ask Modulus, all of their basses are custom basses. It was ordered from MOdulus Via Bass Central by me, and was shipped to my home. According to modulus, the finish was not their fault. They said it was a crack in the finish caused bydroppin it during shipping. It definatly looked and felt like the wood underneath the finish was just not smooth, like it had been brushed against something before the final coat of clear coat was applied. In modulus' defense the case did have damage in the area around where the finish was marred. But anyway Anderson Page, customer assistance at modulus, assured me that my bass would be good as new when i recieve it. Ususally in that situation they would have just sprayed me a new body. But according to him they only spray the sparkle finishes every threee months, and I, he, they, didn't want me to wait that long. When i find the disk i will post pics of the damge, and then pics of the fixed bass when it comes in. Erin
my friend has one it got flood damage done to it he played it, it still sounded good still sounded better than a ibanez or warwick especially live
I never denied it was an extremely sturdy insturment. but to be flawed out of the box was unacceptable. its one thing to put scratches and dents in it over years of playing it. But its just not right to have a brand new insturment pre-damaged. Unless its one of those goofy custom shop fenders Erin
Well, may have been mine... I bought it second hand and the guy who owned it before me used it A LOT!!! So it was a well worn instrument. Anywho, traded it in on another axe... I paid $700 when I bought it off the guy and got $1,250 on the trade-in so I was well pleased... Here's a photo of the one I had.
