It was a gift so I hadn't played it since I first tried it (about a month). I was really worried that it wouldn't be as good as I remembered it to be but it's even better.

This is the fattest fuzz I've ever heard. I like the full out fuzz sound the best (fuzz and tone maxed.. the tone seems to only roll off treble, doesn't cut any bass) but I can actually get some nice lighter distortion tones as well. Sounds great with both the fretted Peavey and the fretless Ray 5.. even down to the low B!

Also sounds good going into my old Maestro Stage Phaser (my only other effect).. I actually have a use in mind for that sound.

Cool, I just have a cheap Ibanez Fuzz. I don't use it much and I got it cheap barely used, so I;m not complaining...
  3. That Frantone seems mighty fine. Didn't Bass player rag say something about it sucking bottom-end? I've heard that it has quite a bit of character. anything you might compare it to for us?
  4. The "Bass Player Magazine" Fuzz piece was completely uninformative, didn't say $hit, and was actually a waste of a few pages.

I was waiting for the overdrive/fuzz reviews and this cr@p Bass Player gave us didn't do squat.

I have also found that BP review aren't worth the paper that their written on.
  5. Yah, it's no secret that Bass player has gone completely downhill these past years. Have you seen the new web site? It is silly...all that archiving of the review databas is just GONE. What rocket scientist thought that one up? How many times can they overhaul their format of that stupid rag? It never seems to improve.
I didn't think their fuzz reviews were that bad however. They had a few differing opinions from players w/ contrasting styles which I thought was informative. Some of the pedal selections could have been better. There were quite a few wonderful bass-specific boxes that were ignored unfortunetly. I've heard some decent stuff about the Frantone. Have you seen their site? Totally fun, great looking boxes at least. I dig my Crowther Prunes and Custard as well as my Chunk fuzz; both from Australia.
  6. Sounds pretty nice with my band.. I definitely have a few spots where I can use it (my bandmates liked it and didn't complain about me overusing it.. so I guess that's good!).

    I haven't noticed a low end cut.
