Holy ****!!! What a difference it made. It sounds like a totally new bass. Ive been tuning it for about an hour because it was going out of tune every five minutes but it seems good now and it sounds incredible. One step closer to that Geddy Lee sound!
Rotos sound great for a short bit, and the sparkle wears off quickly. I happen to like them when they're less sparkly, but there are alot of other brands and styles to choose from.
Don´t want to party-poop, i love the Roto´s sound too but they lose its tone way too quickly... After testing whatever string you can think about, i´ve gone full circle, i´m a Dáddario XL man again, they doesn´t sound as awesome as the Swing 66´s but their tone is more consistent over time, enjoy your Roto´s and clean them often, don´t let your bass out of the case much or they will lose their brightness in a jiffy. When you´re done with them try the Warwicks...i was pleasantly surprised, i went back to Dáddarios as the next best thing because they´re not available anymore in this part of the 3rd World. (IMHO to all of the above) Edit: Rickenboogie beat me to it... Hehehe
I used to use them for years, but I'd swap them out either every few weeks, or if we had a gig coming up. They chewed up my frets, and my fingers. But the sound was great.
Thank You, I will keep those suggestions in mind. I currently don't have a case it is just on a stand currently.
I love Rotosound strings on my passive basses! I use Elixir Nanowebs on my active basses, they feel awesome!!
i like the EB slinky's the tone is good and they last ok. But totally agree new rotos sound great thats the problem...
<3 the old Prism strings......to bad there done and gone... the new DD prosteels arent bad either : )
I never did get some of these ideas. They never have torn up my fingers or my frets----but then I have always used the nickels and not the stainless steels. The SS strings of any make will chew up your frets. No other string sounds as good, but at about 3-4 months the sound is dull and the strings need to be changed. IMO, small sacrifice for great sound.
