We are thrilled to announce the opening the GR Bass Amplification forum on TalkBass. We sincerely thank them for their sponsorship of TB.

The GR Bass line includes amplifiers, speaker cabinets, and combo amplifiers. GR Bass also offers customized graphics and colors on the amplifiers, speakers, and combos which are available by special order.

Now, for the first time ever, GR Bass Amplification products are available in the US thanks to Sonata Marketing helmed by John Files (you may remember John as the owner of the Bass Emporium retail shop in Austin TX). Mr. Files' Sonata marketing is the sole importer of the GR Bass line in the US.

Check out the GR Bass Amplification forum where John is standing by ready to answer any and all of your pre-sales questions!

Don't like the design of tuner on comobos and why does 112'' combo got 800w rms if speaker is only 350w.

The combo runs at about 400w RMS when running it as is (the internal 1-12" is an 8-Ohm driver) so it is a good match. If you add an additional 8-Ohm cabinet (like the GR112H), the total load then becomes 4-Ohms and the amp in the combo will deliver 800w RMS. This is a good solution for maximum portability and having the available power on-hand when you need for a larger gig. If you never need that much power, then the GR112H-350 may be a better solution (with a lower price tag).

    1. Welcome to TB.

    2. Are the products made in Italy, or are they made in China and the company is based in Italy, or something else?

    3. The 212 slim looks pretty sweet, especially at 42 lbs. Can the Tweeter be turned off?

    4. Are you going to be at NAMM in January?

    5. What the best amp for metal?

    1. Hi - Thanks for the welcome.

    2. The products are all made in Italy, where the company is based.

    3. The tweeter can be turned off by rotating the level control fully counter-clockwise

    4. Yes, I will have booth at NAMM (#3636) right next to the GR Amps booth (#3634). The founder/owner of GR (Gianfranco Rizzi) will also be there. I will have GR, Elrick and Jupiter Effects in my booth.

    5. I would get at least the ONE800 and I would probably go for 12"s. They have a little more girth than the 10"s, but a lot of metal players do like 10"s.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

that white 212 on your product pics thread looks absolutely beautiful. I checked out the Andy Irvine demo vid, and it sounds pretty great (at least, as well as can be determined by a camera microphone).

In your own words, how would you compare the sound of one of these cabs with one of the Genz Benz or Tecamp 212's? I've been loyal to my Genz Benz NX2 212 for a few years now, and I've yet to hear anything that I liked better.

It is almost impossible to describe the way speaker cabinets sound. All of our ears operate differently and we are all listening for different things. I am not that familiar with the Tecamp 212, so I can't speak to that. I used to sell the GB NX2 speakers and from my memory, the GR212 is a bit more open on the top end and a little more filled in on the bottom. This shouldn't be much of a surprise as driver technology has advanced over the years. As manufacturing and being able to control material improves, developing improved drivers is the result. Now, will you prefer it to yours, you may/may not. You will have to be the judge on this, but I can say that the build quality and the sound are terrific. When you factor in the weight and the price, the GR Bass gear is a great value. I am working on getting these into stores, so I hope you can hear it soon.

Why would anyone not like a tuner on a combo?

I don't say i don't like the tuner, but the system and design of the current tuner.

  15. Welcome!

I have been following you guys in Instagram for a while, and I am very impressed with that straight forward 800watt power amp! I look forward to learning more about your company and products, keep up the good work.

  16. Love the concept of your Pure Amp 800. All things being ideally awesome, one Should be able to plug in and go without extra "tone" controls. Would love to see a dealership pop up in the NJ area.

Oh, gotcha. It's really pretty cool. The main reason they designed it this way is to make it easy to see on a dark stage and to not take up too much real estate. Considering it comes with the amp, you can always turn it off and use another tuner if you have a favorite.
Thanks! Let me know if you have any questions.

That's the idea 'straight wire with gain' they call it in the hi-fi world. Who would be a good store to contact in NJ? Tell them about us and I will give them a call. Thanks!
