Went to San Antoine last week and heard the Jim Collum Band at " The Landing'. Seven piece trad band, totally acoustic, and you could hear everyone in beautiful balance. The room was designed for the instrumentation, and it works. The bassist, Ron Mopsick, is a great player and was very cordial while i interrupted his break with many questions. These cat's enjoy what they do, play well and have the luxury of that great sounding room. Must be a gas.

  2. Excellent band, and they always have great guests too. The local FM jazz station here in the Toronto area carries the "Riverwalk- Live from The Landing" show twice weekly. It's syndicated on public radio. Always a great history lesson as well as great music.
Google "Riverwalk" or "Jim Cullum Jazz Band" for mo' info.

The only problem is that Jim is an A$$!!

At least in my experience when he came up to play a jazz festival. His behavior at the jam session was pretty freaking ridiculous compared to people like John Hicks, Clark Terry, Jay McShann and countless other cool people who participated and didn't expect people to kiss their feet.
