Great Guitar instrumentals

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by IAMERICCOCHRANE, Apr 19, 2004.

  1. I took a listen to Eric Claptons unplugged CD and I really like the first song "Signe". Its a guitar and drum instrumental that sounds great. I am looking for more songs like it, but I am not looking for a Guitar solo, I am looking for instrumentals with the focus on the guitar but with other instruments too. Can anyone help me out? Thanks,.

Hmmm focus on the guitar, but with other instruments too...

    hmmmm....

I'd recommend listening to rock and pretty much every genre that branches off of it.

Jeff Beck: Declan (from Who Else! )

John Frusciante: Ramparts (from To Record Only Water for 10 Days)

King Crimson: The Sheltering Sky (from Discipline)

Anything from Buckethead's Colma or Electric Tears albums.

Those are the only ones I can think of that fit your description. Guitar songs, but not "guitar songs". Enjoy!

    I second Blow By Blow....
Especially "'Cause We Ended As Lovers", "She's A Woman", "Freeway Jam", "Air Blower", etc.

Great album, I still recall the first day I heard it.
    Produced by George Martin, too!
    ;)

You are 'the Lizard King', right?
Robbie Kreiger released a couple of instrumental-style albums(not chops laden in a Steve vai way...still, pretty enjoyable).
Also, one of The Doors' DVDs I own has Kreiger w/ bass & drums doing "The End" instrumentally.
    Very cool, IMO.

Ditto! Check out his song "Goodbye Again". Jaco and David Sandborn also plays on it. Also, "Go for Your Guns" by the Isley Brothers is another great one.

  19. Guitar instrumentals? "Eruption" by Van Halen. A favorite "new" instrumental, "Vampires" by Godsmack. But honestly, Eruption does it for me.
