I've been to Rondo Music in NJ a few times. The have Essex basses that are inexpensive Fender copies. I bought 2 & upgraded them. My last visit there, I noticed they had a stack od SKB cases on display, I took a look & noticed that they're not SKB but a copy @ less than 1/2 the price!!!!! I bought a 2 space & put my Ampeg SVP-PRO & SoundTech PS802 poweramp. The only real noticable difference is that the handle is different. IMO, it seems like a strong handle. Here is a link to their site.

They have
2 space for $55.95 while SKB's are $114.99
4 space for $59.95 while SKB's are $129.99
6 space for $79.95 while SKB's are $144.99
8 space for $89.95 while SKB's are $189.99
10 space for $99.95 while SKB's are $199.99
12 space for $119.95 while SKB's are $239.99

*the SKB prices were taken from Musician's freind.

2. i've been wondering about those!!!

is the handle solid plastic/metal or a rubber type deal? it kinda looks like the handle on the top of my peavey tko in that picture, although i'd guess it wouldn't be.

hmm...maybe it's time to get that 10 space after all....

I have one of those rack cases from Rondo. I bought the 2-space case for my Peavey T-Max head. The T-Max is built like a tank, so it doesn't really need a case, but I wanted something with handles to make it easy to carry.
Anyway, IMO, the cases from Rondo are OK, but they're not quite SKBs. The handles and latches are lower quality on the Rondo cases.
(Note: I'm calling them Rondo cases because the name of the manufacturer will vary. When I received mine, I was expecting a specific brand, but I recieved another, but it was still the same case.)
Bottom line - Assess your needs. If you have expensive and fragile rack gear, I would go with an SKB case. If you have sturdy rack gear that you just need to rack-up for convenience, the cases from Rondo are fine.
I've had my "Rondo" case for about a year and it seems to be holding-up well.

I have an SKB six space rack case, cost me 125$. It seems pretty tough, but after seeing the anvil cases I think I'll go that way next time.
