Gregory Bruce Campbell strikes again!

  1. hey all,

bassically.net's Cliff Engel just posted this review of Campbell's clinic at the GuitarX opening:

    'On February 20, 2003, Montana-based bassist, Gregory
Bruce Campbell conducted a bass clinic, sponsored by
Warrior Instruments, at GuitarX in Denver, Colorado.
Armed with his 9-string Warrior fretless bass (yeah, I
said 9-string fretless bass!), Campbell painted dense
sonic soundscapes of looped-laden bass orchestrations.
Campbell's arsenal of gear and gadgets included
everything from E-bows to his looping devices, a pair
of Gibson Echoplexes, and a floorboard of effects
pedals with distortions, wahs, harmonizers, and much
more. Campbell guided his intrigued listeners through
four improvised, looped exhibitions. His multi-layered
compositions often consisted of slapped percussive
rhythms, pulsating grooves, chordal accompaniment, and
screaming solo leads. In between his looped
improvisations, Campbell discussed a number of topics
with the audience including the influence of
technology on his compositional process, diving into
the 9-string, and muting techniques. He demonstrated
the extensive tonal capabilities of his bass and the
sheer power of the low F# through a set of AccuGroove
speaker cabinets. Bottom Line: Gregory Bruce Campbell
boldly goes where few have dared to go before!'

always good to see someone getting their due, particularly when it's a really great guy! congratulations, Greg!

    from the low end,

  3. hey ebozzz,

thanks for the link but unfortunately our computer has some software glitches and we can't download RealPlayer...

    :(

I'm hoping someone I know around here with a fully viable PC will download it so I can watch!

somehow it still won't compare with being there...

    ;)

regardless, I hope to make it to the Bozeman Bass Bash. if so, maybe I'll see you there!

    from the low end,

    Stew
