I was just wondering in all of our vast membership if any of you owned or know the owner of the 76 Ricenbacker currently on consignment at Gruhn Guitars.

Its really well played and worn. Mildy modded and re fretted. It pretty recognizable as far as plain jane Rics are concerned so I figured Id try my luck here. Any info is appreciated. I just want to know its history because it looks like its had a fun 42 years on earth. Oh and Im not just nosy, I bought it.

    Any info is appreciated.

My 77 isn’t as modded but it’s as well played, if it’s around 1200-1500, snag it and put Ric pickups in it and you got a killer bass.

I snagged it around $1550 shipped and im already pickup hunting. It played like a dream and felt super comfortable when i was there playing it and then i drove back home to ohio and regretted not buying it so i called in and bought it.

I bought mine without plugging it in, the Neck was true one I was looking for. Mines beat to hell and sounds killer. I’m going to go get it out and make the neighbors mad now :D

Same here. I dont care how it sounds. I can make it sounds any way i want it to. I just bought a brand new Ric like a month ago but this 76 the neck I just melted into so it gonna be bye bye new ric to recoup for my 76. Its funny when you grab a neck and it immediately feels like an extension of yourself you just never feel like letting go. Thats how this was.

If it has “ the feel”, that’s everything with 70’s Ricks like this. Some do,most don’t.
With this bass being in Nashville,i’d be surprised if Jaymi Mallard (aka pinkbassman) hadn’t played it or possibly had something to do with it.
Congrats on finding a keeper! :bassist:
I’d recommend finding an original set of period-correct higains, but if that proves difficult,CA makes GREAT Rick replacement pickups to whatever spec makes you happiest.
