Guild Starfire basses

    When was the first Guild Starfire electric bass launched? Was it a solid-body bass or a semi-acoustic one?

    Does anyone know if it was introduced in response to the Höfner 500/1 popularity, or before? (since they are both semi-acoustic electric basses).

    Starfire basses introduced in 1965, well after the Hofner, and more likely a response to Gibson's EB2 than the very different Hofner. The Starfire IV guitar was a response to Gibson's ES335.
