I purchased my main gigging bass used about
five years ago.It was suppose to fill my needs
    until I could afford a high-end bass.It's a
    Guild Pilot 5 string w/ active EMG's.
I guess what I'm getting at is that I feel
Guild had made very underrated basses.

    Agree.

Well, you didn't ask for more info, but if you want my opinion, check the Guild Pilot Pro 5 bass review I wrote at the bass gear review archive.

  4. As far as I can work out, Guild is deeply unfashionable right now- all guild, not just basses- which means you can pick up some great bargains second hand.

Have you checked out the Guild/ DeArmond section of the FDP (www.fenderforum.com), which has a band of fairly dedicated Guilders thrashing away?

I have always thought Guild particularly shine at short scale basses...some of the best available.

  5. I haver a Guild B301 Bass, made in about 1979 I think. Until I recently bought an American Fender Jazz it was my main bass. Loved the sound and feel, although not as much as my Fender.

  7. I have a 1967 Starfire II. I swaped the original Harstrom pickups for humbucker soapbars which lok really nice against a natural finish.

The only frustrating thing about the bass is that it is the only short scale bass I have and when I switch during a gig I am not as quick to adjust to the short scale as I would like to be.

    bye,
