Guitar FX pedals on a Bass

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by r6mile, Apr 3, 2006.

  1. Do guitar effects pedal work on bass (like those Boss pedals, or the wah Crybaby)? If so, is the sound quality good?

Dont know about drive etc, but with some of the synths / maybe modulation you can run into tracking problems with the low end. Takes longer to process a bass signal.
  3. you can use guitar pedals with bass, but generally overdrives, distortions and fuzz will suck out your low end, but other effects work just fine...the wah might have a lack of low end too, but the others can be used...

This is covered if you read the FAQ. They work, just differently, maybe better to your ears, maybe not.

Since basses often have a lot higher output than guitars, you may overdrive the input of the effect pedal and end up with unwanted distortion. This has happened to me.
  6. I use a Boss CH1 chorus - it's not the bass specific model but it still works fine. The bass version is likely better.
