Hey, Im looking to experiment a little and use a guitar pre 2 channel that an old band mate is getting rid of dirt cheap. Would a guitar pre work with bass, why or why not? Do guitar pres focus on certain freqs?

its a tube works rt-922 and im just thinking of a second rig.
    thanks

    on some site is:

I've read that John Myung, Dream Theater's bassist, uses a MESA/Boogie Triaxis guitar preamp modified for bass. What are those modifications?

According to MESA/Boogie, Myung's Triaxis-a one-rackspace, MIDI-programmable preamp with clean and distortion patches-received a series of capacitor and resistor value changes to enhance the EQ section and bottom-end response. (About 20 components were swapped.) Aside from that, the preamp's signal flow and gain levels are stock.

  3. just try it. from a technical standpoint, it will work.Sonically, you'll have to try.

EDIT: and even then you can modify input & tone cap values to improve it.
