does anyone know any guitar sites like Talkbass?
There's guitar.net, which uses the same engine as TalkBass; it's sparsely read, though. There's also guitar.com, which is very heavily read, but is UNMODERATED. This means that you have stupid 13-year-olds posting racist diatribes and porno, endless "Fender/Gibson/Ibanez/Marshall/Mesa sucks" threads. However, there are some intelligent, helpful people there; look for rastachild and Benz2112.
edit: ugh, never mind, I just looked through some of the posts and it's really gone downhill.
Try www.guitaristforum.com It's the spin off of some disgruntled guys from the "old" harmony central guitar forum. If you're a young kid the"new" harmony central might be up your alley. If you're a little more mature the guitaristforum might be the place.Try them both.
dont forget www.wholenote.com
www.guitartricks.com has a forum that's virtually the same as the one here, or at least the pre-redesign one. I don't know about the quality of the posts, because I didn't look in the forums - it would have seemed too strange to have been reading a guitar forum that looked like this one!
Speaking of other sites, whatever happened to BassPC.com? (Sorry, I brought this off-topic.)
www.betterguitar.com have loads of stuff on playing the guitar, but I don't know if they have a forum like this.
Guitar.com is good if you like goofing off in the misc. forum, its the funniest forum. The bass forum there is sad though.
In Internet years, this post is ancient. Anyone know any current guitar sites like Talkbass? If talkbass is THE site for bass, what is the guitar equivelant? Anyone know?
I'd go with thegearpage.net
there's always ultimate-guitar.com
but they're all douches.
Riiiight. Like that could happen.
There is an idea in my head for some time...
It might get me banned maybe...
How about a "Guitars" subforum here on TalkBass. eyebrow
Many bassists here also enjoy playing guitar as their second instrument.
Maybe even some as their main instrument. Or former guitarist who made the change to bass.
Even some bassists who have no experience with guitar might benefit from this.
If you are accustomed with the (IMO very brotherly) forum-life here many do not want to go to another forum.
Fear of leaving the nest.
(In my case: Stockholm syndrome regarding the moderators. )
I assume most don't want to risk being utter noobs on a guitar forum, risking insults for being a bassist and... and in the end wasting time going back and forth to different forums.
I already have a slogan for a guitar forum here:
"Talk Bass, Whisper Guitar"
So how about it?
Yay! or... should I get my coat?
And yes, I'm also aware of the negative side-effects a guitar-forum can have on these forums.
Exit! Stage right.
great bunch of people at guitarscanada...same set up, smaller site, small bass section, but the very best bunch of people you could want to "meet"......primarily canadian members but we do have some us and int'l members...there are a few members of talkbass there too....
