my guitarist took home my 2x10 yorkville 8 ohm cab because he wanted to use his new genz benz head on something, and hes only got the loan 4x10 at practise.
will him playing distortion through my bass cab do any damage what so ever to it?

no, the speakers in your bass cab can handle a whole lot more than guitar speakers. The guitar probably won't sound too great, because the speakers won't be breaking up like they would with guitar speakers, but that's besides the point.

Maybe only to the tweeter/horn, but unlikely it it is a piezo one. But I don't think distorted guitars sound nice on bass cabs with 10"s. On the other hand, clean guitars sound absolutely amazing through my Hartke rig (4.5XL+215XL -tested with a Tele and a PRS Custom-).

actually quite a few guitar players use accugroove cabinets

    like the tri 12's

and they love them, becuase they are a full range cabinet

When my guitarist comes over to jam we line out from a H&K Blue 30 into my Peavey Basic 60 and it sounds really good. Thats playing with full heavy drop D distortion.
