I have a Fender Champ 25 that needs a few repairs and I was wondering if I could get some "electronic stuff" replaced to make it a bass amp? I will need to change the speaker too, right? Would thes mods change the tone at all, because this amp is amazingly sweet for my bass, just not enough low end

Well, to keep it safe, you just have to change the speaker. Because basses can destroy guitar speakers. And then if you like the tone of it, then dont change anything else.

are you sure basses can destroy guitar speakers?

  4. Yes. I've done it, on two separate occasions twenty years apart. And both times I said "hey, it'll be OK, I won't turn the bass up loud...."

The issues are 1) power handling and 2) excursion. Even if you keep the volume low, the bass frequencies can move the speaker more than it was designed for...
