guitar using bass amp?

  1. i know you cant play a bass into a guitar amp, but could u play a guitar through a bass amp?, i picked up guitar and i dont wanna buy another amp if i can just use my bass rig. is this bad if i play guitar through it?

    A lot of people have done it . There was a thread on this a few weeks ago. If I remember right a few people on this site do it.

    Nope, won't sound too pretty but no problem.
     
  4. AFAIK some of the early guitar players used fender bassman bass amps for a different sound back in the day.

    A friend of mine played his jackson thru my practice amp (crate 12), and it didn't sound to great. It can be done, but it just doesn't sound good. I on the other hand have played thru a guitar amp with my bass, with the same results. Crappy tone, no punch whatsoever. You can still hear yourself, but it just doesn't cut it. Pick up a small guitar amp, a nice 30 watt 10 puts out enough volume for bedroom practice IME.

    Lots of metal players use them for more low end crunch.
