  2. The first one is apparently a 4P5T switch, versus the second one being a standard 5 position blade switch.

For your application, either will work fine.

the first one has way more options for coil-splitting and other cleverness.

the second one, though more limited, can still be wired to split your humbuckers in the 2 and 4 settings for a more authentic (and hum-canceling) "quack" tone with the middle pickup. it's also smaller, so easier to fit in the guitar.

so the second one will do the same exact thing as my 5 way now?

    1st-bridge humbucker
    2nd-single coil bridge, middle
    3rd-middle
    4th-middle, single coil neck
    5th-neck

When i say single coil ______ i mean 1/2 of me humbucker.

hmm. i think it would be cool to have it use both humbuckers in the middle position instead of just the single coil, which i never use.

that's exactly the sort of thing the bigger switch can do.
eeww, those things suck! they like to start acting weird, then break.

    allparts has what you want.
