Has anybody out there used both the EP slap and gamut D strings. If you have, could you tell me how they compared. Thanks!

I like the Pistoy better personally.

I have briefly played both (for jazz). I find the gauges of the plain guts in the EP slap set to be way on the thin side of the spectrum. Gamut gives you a wider variety of choices when it comes to gauges and construction, and yes, they are worth the money!

I've put a Gamut A string on recently. What a difference!
I've had EP gut and synth on that bass. I was using a gut A (Clef?) which was only only OK-sounding.
I got clearer tones expecially up past 2nd position. Bowing went from muddy
to more than acceptable; I only bow for practice anyway, but still... I have EP gut D and G on another bass but I'm not ready to make a switch yet. But based on what I hear on my bass, I certainly do think about it.

To be honest, Evah slap D is the worst plain gut string I ever tried.
