    would it work????
  2. The gut string will work, the magnetic pickup will work, but the magnetic pickup will not pick up the vibration of the gut string. Even metal wound ones don't work at all or well enough to be handled by a magnetic pickup.
So you might expect a NO as the answer to your question.

    It depends on your pickup...

Magnetic pickup: Only strings made with ferrous metals (iron) will work.
Piezo pickup: ANY string will work.

Gut strings are made from animals and contain no metal. Wound gut is usually wound with silver or silver alloy (non-ferrous).

  6. A Stagg uses piezo pickups, so gut strings would work. However, the benefits of gut strings would be lost on an electric instrument. I put weedwhacker strings on my Stagg to approximate the feel of gut. Weedwhacker strings are one tenth the cost of gut and require no maintenance.
