Hello, I have a plywood King double bass that was made in the 1930's. In recent months I put Labella gut strings on it, which I much prefer to the steel ones I had previously. The sound I have now is much closer to what I'm looking for but I'm wondering if all gut strings are created equal, or if there are certain brands that people prefer (I understand that sometimes people use different brands for different strings). I really like the gut sound that I hear of both Oscar Pettiford and Paul Chambers. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.
