Who else here remembers these shows?

My memories are fading...I remember really thinking Viper was awesome when I was younger.

Thinking back....a show based off a production vehicle must have been crap...

I think I recall The Mantis being about a disabled black dude...who fights crime...

That.......yeah.....I don't even need to go there...

Guyver....I know this was movies at first...at least I think...but I think it also had a series...or I saw the movies on TV...I dunno

Anybody remember these crap shows that really appealed to....somebody...like me as a little kid

Anyone have any other similar shows or bad movies to share???

  2. The only one of those I'd seen was the guyver. so cheesy it was good.

    guyver was awesome.

i still remember when my brother and i rented the anime shows of it one summer.

what sticks out in my mind to this day was how there was like... a single frame of animation that was shown over a couple lines' worth of dialogue. :D

and the show was pretty violent!

we saw the movie(s?) first... was it originally the cartoon?

  4. Airwolf, StreetHawk, and The Master.

Airwolf: Badass helicopter always manages to run into evil badass helicopter. Manuever, fire, end of episode.

Streethawk: Holy Cow!!! It's a really tricked-out street bike with rockets. Kinda like Knightrider with a motorcycle.

The Master: Old, OLD guy who's a ninja. Can jump over helicopters. All episodes: "I need help!!! Hey!!! your too old to help. Oh, wait, you're not only old, but a ninja. That's amazing. (some kicking, noises, and some throwing stars later....) WOW. Thanks Old Ninja!!!

  6. There was another show called Sable...but I never watched it. Something about a vigilante with a superhero name, but he had no special powers....unless you count the ability to get your show pulled before the end of a season.

Beauty and the Beast....REAL winner. Take the girl from Terminator and match her with some freakish half man/ half lion thingy. Give lion man a home in the sewers of New York and mix in a little "how can this be?" romance with the freak while he battles the evils of the streets and tries to find a way to fit in.

If there were any positives at all in this one, it's that Arnold decided to do a terminator 2 and the lion/man (Vincent was his name) had enough make-up on that his face is not burned into memeory for having one of the crappiest shows I've ever seen.

Prey: Evolved psychic humans based in Mexico slowly branching out and killing us non evolved neanderthals as time permits. ABC series, didn't complete the 1st season, IIRC.

Oh yes, I watched all those as a kid!

    How about:

Automan: Computer generated dude, his cursor and his amazing, physics-defying car fight crime. I remember wanting an Automan birthday cake when I was 8 or so.

Manimal: Dude can turn into any animal he wants and he helps the cops solve crimes.

    The Master..... :D

    I loved that show!!
One episode I remember....there's a scene with the Master's not-so-masterful student. He had to run somewhere to catch some bad-doods. He takes off saying to himself, 'one-minute mile, one-minute mile........'. Sure enough the guy runs a mile in a minute.

Oh, do I remember my failed attempts at the same. :bawl:

Anyone remember "Man-imal" - the guy changed into different critters.

Then there was this other one where a guy had this little thing called "Cursor". Cursor could change into motorcycles, cars, helicopters, etc.

I had to look at your birthday after you mentioned both Manimal and Automan in the same post.

We were born the same year of course. :smug:

  12. Ahhh, my bretheren of the same era....anyone remember "Starman"? It featured an alien that looked like a person (saved on special effects and make-up, that's for sure).

There was another.... I cannot remember the name, but it had 5-6 misfits with odd powers (hmmmmm, kinda like the X-Men). It sucked, too.

I remember the Starman movie. I don't remember any spinoff TV shows.

I remember the people with powers show though. One of them could shrink...I think that was the black guy.

Hmm, by the way, does anyone remember this one animated series / film from the 80's, I think it was called Ultra-something where there's this bad-ass guy who has 1) a laser weapon built into his arm 2) some kind of ship that can change forms, for example to snake-like thing that can travel underground.

I recall renting this ultracoolness from a store as a kid but don't recall the name :(
