Well, it sucks. We were booked at Headhunter's here in Austin last night, and had to cancel because of an ice storm. A solid 1/4" of ice on the roads, it was ugly. Thankfully the staff at Headhunters was very cool about it. This would have been the first gig with one of my new bands.

    Hey, Hookus:

    What band was that?

    Just curious.

Jagged Edges. I also play for Goodbye, Beautiful, so look for them, too.

That happened to my band on our first real show as well. January 29th last year in Atlanta. Its a bummer but hopefully you'll get some new shows and do well.

Are you familiar with the Austin Indie Alliance? If not, look them up: http://www.austinindiealliance.com. Great bunch of folks. The Dirty Dog on 6th Street, and the Velvet Spade on Red River, and Hanovers in Pflugerville are just three places where member bands play regularly.

Interesting, I had a buddy refer me to Dirty Dog and Hanovers. He plays with WT Special, may be he is in on it. Thanks for the scoop.

By the way, we are back on for Jan. 4th.

I checked the member band list, and didn't see WT Special. Doesn't mean one of the members of the band isn't a member of the AIA, though. I was a member of the Alliance even before my band, The Extractors, applied for membership.

Anyway, a couple of the AIA bands (Bag 100 and Triggerfish)are at Hanovers tonight, and you could talk to them about the AIA, if you can make it to the show. Starts at 7pm.

Also, I'll try to get a few folks together for your January 4 show.

    Later,

    ~John

Good deal, Jagged Edges are sort of 60's ish psychodelic surf rock. I think we are playing at about 1130, weather permitting this time. I'm the youngest guy in the band by about 20 years.

I'm the oldest member of GB. Generation X, go figure...

Have you heard the Nematoads? They play surf, as well.

BTW: I checked the Website for Headhunters, and they don't have you listed for tomorrow night. Is the gig still on?

Yup, looks like we are assed out. Possibly a case of double booking, but I think it is something else. I'll make that a seperate post when I have time.

Looks like there was a bit of confusion at the bar (and with our contact person in the band, but that is another story), we go on at 10:30.

Well, it went okay-ish. If anyone cares, or was there, I'll PM my thoughts, but won't air laundry in public...

    Hey, Hookus:

Sorry I missed the show. I took a pain pill (bad shoulder) and it knocked me out. Couldn't drive, etc.

    PM me with a review.

    ~John

P.S.: Did anyone show up, asking where I was?
