haggling

    I'm currently gassing for a Fender Marcus Miller Sig. 4 sting. The local Guitar Center I go to has it for $769. I've haggled with the guys there before, but only for about $50 each time. How cheap do you guys think I could get them on this bass?

    First, get cash. Big bills. Slap $650 on the counter and tell 'em to write it up. Let them back out the tax too.

    Say the item is 700, ask them if they can do it for $650, then, mabye buy a small pedal, and then ask if they can do both for say 700 again, then say can you do it for 650 or 675 with cash

    Theres just a few ideas i do every now and then.

    Oh yes. I got my salesperson down another 50 bucks on my Warwick by offering cash money.

    GC can sell this bass at $660 plus tax. Maybe even a little lower. List is $1,100 without case. Note that the Fender site lists this bass without case, so they may want to sell you one of those.

    Just let them know you're serious. Set a price in youre mind, but be realistic. $100 off the asking price is usually a good place to start. If they wont compromise on the price to get it within your acceptable range then simply walk out.

    Thanks. Luckily I already have a case, so that will save me a good 80 bucks. I think I'll try and start them out at $650; but it'll still be another 2 weeks at least, have to wait for all the funds to come through so I can offer cash.

    I did work experience at a music store and i had a peep at the computer where they did the sales, and they had a part that told them the absolute minimum they can go to. Im not sure why im saying this, but it may contribute ;)

    At my local store, whenever I buy anything big, the guy there likes me, so I just say "is there any lower you can give me this for"

    I saved 350 on my ABG

    and about 500 on my rig.

    I actually go to the one off of LBJ between Welch and Midway. But my guy moved to the one at 75 and Parker, next to the Crest dealership

    What am I talking about? The one next to the Crest dealership is not the one by 75 and Parker, but that's the one my guy moved to. :meh:

    Yes it is...you're right. That one's closest to me but I hate wading through all the Plano kids when I go there, plus the selection is never that great. I always try to drive a little further to 635/Tollway when I can. Lemme know next time you go to either 75/Parker or Tollway/635 and I'll meet you.
