Hal Leonard - Jimi Hendrix - Bass Transcription Books

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by LowDown Hal, Aug 1, 2009.

  1. Google seems to think there are two of them.

Any owners out there? I'm wondering how accurate they are?

Some of the "play along" books appear to over simplify parts.

    THANKS

  2. Only Jimi Hendrix score book I have is by Hal Leonard; "Transcribed Scores: Experience Hendrix - the Best of Jimi Hendrix." Has scores for ALL instruments and vocals (tabs and scores both for guitar and bass) as well as notes at the beginning of each song giving a bit of background on each piece, how it was played, etc. $30, well worth the cost in my opinion...My bass instructor (who is a multi-instrumentalist and has played covers of quite a few of Hendrix's tunes) says the transcription looks to be pretty accurate.

  3. the ones i have from bella godiva/leonard say note for note guitar on the cover but are scored for bass and drums also...... the bass lines seem decent and are complex enough but i've never sat down and a/b'd them....they are definitely not of the piano, vocal, guitar song sheet variety......

I'm impressed with the Hal Leonard stuff for the most part. Their bass line books seem pretty accurate. The R & B bass bible is great.
