Would you rock this bass?
5 string Halo bass guitar
But it's awesome. It says so right there in the ad!
I would, but not for that price. If I was in a full time metal band then maybe, but for $600 in my current situation I think not.
And here is the ehm...prototype?
GVK - 4 String BASS - Black :: Electric Basses :: Halo Custom Guitar - Baritone Guitar - Custom Bass - 8 String Guitar - Guitar Repair San Jose
Not the prototype. That's a custom, one-off version built for display purposes at a trade show (Music China | Messe Frankfurt).
Maple fretboard with rosewood inlays on a ash neck??????
And what is the stamping on body wood? Looks like basic highschool leather class belt pattern stuff. Not at all sinister type body stamping. Body shapes kinda kewl. But I dont think I want a bass with maple fretboard and rosewood inlays and ash neck. Lol.
like the video game?
I heard this is the best bass for metal.
Halo have a rather rough reputation on the guitar side of things. They're under new ownership, but I'm still hesitant.
Well, that, and that bass is just hideous.
I like it a lot but the rosewood is a faute de gout. Ebony or maple it should be.
Right band, right setting I think it would be bad ass.
I used to jam with a band out of the drummers music stor in ShelbyVille, IN. They were a Halo dealer. They didn't have THAT bass, but had several. They played pretty nice actually. I'm sure the bass in question would be similar or better. I'd Do It! (Minus the "B" String of course!)
If you go to the basses page, there's a couple of "testimonials". The first is from one of the guys from Fozzy, Chris Jerico's band. Maybe he got tips on "embellishing" from Chris??
That may be the most horrific thing I've ever seen.
ymmv, of course.
