What's better than a fuzz pedal? More fuzz pedals...

@handofseven doing his typical tone quest to fuzz mountain.

(l to r) Malekko germanium B:Assmaster, Dwarfcraft Silver Rose, IdiotBox Dungeon Master with no diodes switching, Lone Wolf Audio Left Hand Wrath, Malekko Diabolik.

Just slap yourself hard in the face. That's what all of them on at once sounds like.

  4. That's a fantastic lineup!

Can I call dibs on the Ge Bassmaster if it loses the battle? ;)

Yes, it's a modified Boss HM2 with added eq and switching.

What do you think of the LWA HM-2 clone on the bass? Does it retain any articulation, or is it just a big wall of distortion? Have you tried any other HM-2 clones? The only distortion I've used on a bass lately are some Rat clones.

It can become a wall of distortion pretty easily but with the right settings it sounds quite good. I prefer keeping the distortion below noon for clarity. I've also tried the actual HM2 on bass (I like it!), and the Idiotbox Dungeon Master in the pic is HM2 inspired as well. The LHW has more tweakable eq, which is nice, but that Dungeon Master has a great sound.

I'll need to put them head to head to see which I truely prefer, my gut this moment says Dungeon Master.

Just throw a couple of D20's and see which pedal makes its save. ;)

What is the rig\bass you use with the LHW and what style of music are you playing?

FWIW, I thought the LHW brought a lovely audible glamer, but the Dungeon Master got right down to the magic missiles.

I use the LHW in a metal band I do sporadically. I use a bunch of pedals but click the LHW on when there's a bass break that needs to sound extra nasty or to fill things out under a guitar solo. Bass is a Spector, pedal chain is (I think) Radial ABY>EHX Bass Big Muff Deluxe>IdiotBox BlowerBox>Wounded Paw loop pedal with EHX Freeze, EHX BassBalls,Morley Cliff Burton Wah>LHW>MXR M80 or Darkglass B7K, which goes to a Mesa M9 on a 610, and then the other half of the ABY goes straight to the Tech 21 dUg Ultra 1000 head on a 215. It's not as complicated as it all sounds. Basically the dUg does the heavy lifting and then the Mesa is used to raise the distortion level above or below the dUg's dirt level and add weird sounds when needed.

So LHW is definitely a heavy music appropriate pedal, would not be the best for adding slight overdrive or not bludgeoning the mix in a medium-heavy rock band.
