I've always loved the looks and sound of a Hanewinckel, but I've never played one. I'm thinking either a Hanewinckel or a Fender '62 RI. I would probably get the Nimbus body style. I'm not very fond of Bartolini's though, but it's not hard to change.

I've only played two Hanewinckels briefly, but was impressed both times.

I believe he's open to other pickups.

Pete is also winding his own pickups now, which sound amazing. His basses are top notch.
  4. I recently acquired a Hane and couldn't be happier. I was considering a Stingray but this completely blows any MM away.

The only bass I've ever played that I liked more was my teacher's Fodera.
