Anyone that is into The Bad Plus, Esbjörn Svensson Trio or The Fringe needs to check them out.

I've been meaning to check this group out.

  3. Those guys are from Minneapolis (like me). I have been checking them out since '96. Erik Fratzke is a great bass player. His main gig right now is playing GUITAR :eyebrow: and leading an instrumental doom/prog metal band called Zebulon Pike.

I was just listening to samples of Zebulon Pike... Cool stuff!

The Bad Plus is also from your neck of the woods... Have you ever caught them live?

  5. Although Minneapolis claims Bad Plus as their own, they don't play here much (too busy touring Europe). The drummer in both Bad Plus and Happy Apple, Dave King has been very active around here for the last 10 years.

I don't know if its floating around on the web, but Erik Fratzke was in a soul/jazz group (on bass) 10 years ago called Casino Royale, which is my favorite from this "stable" of players.
