Happy Birthday to one of the most underrated bassists ever.

My inspiration to pick up the bass came from John Deacon.

    All the best John

How old is he now? I have to mention that John Deacon was hanging out in the studio with Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers when they were recording "Good Times," and they inspired Deacon to come up with the riff for "Another One Bites the Dust."

You are so right, unfortunately Mr. Deacon was upstaged by the sheer force of his frontman's personality and presence. I doubt Freddy or Brian ever discounted his splendid contribution to the band. I am constantly in awe of Deacon's ability style and taste. Happy birthday Mr. Deacon.

1951 was one freaky good year for the electric bass! Not only was the instrument invented, so many of the world's greatest bassists were born that year. Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Will Lee, John Deacon, John Lee, and Anthony Jackson, are just a few who come to my mind when I think of 1951.

Which one? The actual John Deacon? Or the TalkBass member "John Deacon?'
