It's great to see you celebrate with such patriotism, something we don't seem to do here, we don't even have a national day, we have Saint Georges day, but it's not a holiday for us English.
FYI: John Adams, President #2, thought that July 2 would be "the day".
Funny how things happen.
That's when the declaration was written up. It was signed on the 4th.
My 4th of July celebration included practicing and some hotdogs. I'm so exciting.

Congress voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain.
Although the wording of the Declaration was approved on July 4, the date of its signing was August 2.
A friend posted a picture on facebook "wearing the stars and stripes". She had a blue skirt with a red & white striped top.
I asked her wear the stars were. Yup, thats where they were.
Hancock signed on the 4th, the rest signed periodically up to 2 August. Hancock was the first to sign it.
