Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide between a Harley Benton RB414 vs Squier Classic Vibe Bass... does anyone have any particular Squier CV models they'd recommend over the HB RB414?
Apples and oranges. An RB414 is very different from a FSO. I don't believe there is Squier that would be in any comparable to an RB414, other than having 4 strings.
Yeah good point they are very different styles of bass... what about in terms of value? the RB414 seems to be really good value and the classic vibes seem to be a mixed bag?
For me the RB414 is by far the better value. I love mine. A better comparison to a squier would be one of these. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_20_ca_standard_series.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbp120bk_ebass.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hot_rod_bass.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pb_50_fr_vintage_series.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pb_20_sbk_standard_series.htm Or even these https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jj_45op_sunburst.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_62cc_lpb.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mv_4jb_gotoh_sp.htm The first group would be at least comparable to affinities and the second group would be as good or better than the CVs There are many other colours and variants of these, the above are just some examples any one of which would be comparable to a squier and represent much better value. In my opinion, of course. You could have a look over here:- https://www.talkbass.com/threads/i-own-a-harley-benton-club.1123735/page-669 Where you'll find lots of opinions from people who own all of these and some who have directly compared them to Squiers and you could ask specific questions about particular models and someone is bound to be able answer your questions. I only have the models available in lefty so many of the higher end ones are unavailable to me.
Wow! thank you so much for the examples, I'll definitely take a look at those and really interested to dive into the value differences more between the HB's & Squier's. I'm interested in the higher end ones too if they blow the CV value out of the water, thanks again!
