Not all body shapes seem to look right headless, but I think the Harlot will be great! Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out...

I always have an eye to make any shape work out as a headless. There is a bit of tweaking to accommodate the tuners and keep them within the body shape but it still keeps the idea of the original shape.

Some work done on the headless Harlot (sounds like a really dodgy film).

Body wings now cut out. The neck still needs to be fretted then I can glue the wings on.

  6. Love your stuff, Skelf. That top is prompting some very devious thoughts...

The Headless Harlot takes another step forward. The bass has been put together on with all the cavities now.

    Man, that looks awesome!

  12. I called up last week to see Alan with a pal who was picking up his completed ACG 4 string Harlot.....lovely. Took the opportunity to check out my headless Harlot in the flesh, and Yum..Yum....

    2ndvisit1.

I cant express how appreciative I (and I know other ACG owners say the same) am of the time Alan puts aside for his customers to check all the little bits before work goes too far down the line. Top bloke

Looking forward to the body profiling and seeing the rear cutouts being formed for the headless hardware.

The cut out for the tuning unit now done. The unit will also be at an angle in relation to the top which is hard to see on the pic.

Some more done on the Harlot. Just the pickup cavities to do then on with the sanding.

    A few more shots.
Increased the upper bout arm contour.

You can see where the front contour and the rear contour come together in the upper bout.

The angled section for the tuning unit.

Back of the bass with some spirit sprayed on it,you can see the flame in the neck and in the body core. Cavity cover in place but still to be fitted.

The top (camphor burl) came from Larry along with the finger board the rest I sourced in the UK.

    Alan,
What do you use for that black highlight layer between the camphor and the sycamore? I love the way it looks!

    0.6 mm dyed sycamore.
Sycamore takes dye very well so a good choice for black as it is really consistent.
This is European Sycamore known as euro maple as well.
