Gotta say, I respect his honesty. He knows he sucks and is honest about it. Might be just the thing for a beginning musician looking to try playing with others.
That's what struck me as being so funny. Quite a contrast from the often inflated opinions of themselves that singers have. I have to admit though, THAT would be a first rehearsal I'd love to hear ... for about 30 seconds.
Maybe 15 seconds. Kind of reminds me of a quote I heard in the first band I was in. We weren't fantastic, but we were pretty good and after another band on the bill saw us member of that group said "You guys have that whole playing together thing..."
Been playing punk/ska music for a long long time. And the fact remains, in a punk band...you don't have to be a good singer. More of artistic yelling
The best punk is crass, angry and musically marginal. A decent drummer and a somewhat competent bassist, coupled with highly aggressive antagonistic vocals and blaring 'in your face' guitar- that's it. Less talent can be more talent in punk. As long as something (or someone) is holding it all together.
