    Hello everyone.
I've been considering buying a Hartke 410 recently and I don't know whether to get me an XL or TP. Has anybody tried to compare them? Is there much difference in sound, I mean could you tell one from another in a blindfold test? I would be grateful for any comments on this.

I plan to use it with both stand-up bass and bassguitar, mostly jazz, pop, funky...
    I don't play 5-string bass.
    Price doesn't matter to me.

    Thanks for your ideas
    Good tones to you!

The XL's better quality speakers can handle more power (400 watts I think vs. 240 for the TP) and the cab itself is much more solidly built. I have owned both cabs and I liked both of them actually. I think the 410TP is a great cab for the money. Tonewise, I couldnt tell much of a difference between the two. If price is not an issue check out the 4.5XL ...

I can tell the difference in tone when blindfolded, when just one note is played. Of course, YMMV . . .

TP series has cheaper speakers, smaller magnets, lower power handling, lower quality/more resonant wood for the cabinet. It is lighter, however . . .

I also can tell, the XL is more focused and fatter sounding. That's partly because of better drivers, partly because it's a more rigid cabinet.

The 410XL is worth the extra dough esp. for high volume applications.

If the price difference is not a concern, get the XL. The weight difference with the TP is a kind of moot point, neither of them are exactly featherweights. I'd say I prefer the XL for sure, I didn't have the money though.
